Announcement on Issuing the National Standard Code for Design of Raw Material Yard of Iron and Steel Plants

Code for Design of Raw Material Yard of Iron and Steel Plants is hereby approved as a national standard with a serial number of GB 50541-2009，and it shall be implemented from July 1，2010.Therein，Articles 3.0.10，4.1.4，4.4.1，5.1.12，8.2.5，8.3.4，10.0.3，10.0.7（2）and 11.0.5 are compulsory provisions and must be enforced strictly.

Authorized by the Research Institute of Standards& Norms（RISN）of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People\'s Republic of China，this Code is published and distributed by China Planning Press.

Foreword

This code was developed by CISDI Engineering Co.，Ltd.together with the organizations concerned under the organization of China Metallurgical Construction Association（CMCA）in accordance with the requirements of\"Notice on Printing and Distributing the Development and Revision Plan of Engineering Construction Standards and Codes in 2006（Batch 2）\"（JIAN BIAO［2006］No.136）issued by the former Ministry of Construction（MOC）.

During the drafting process，the Code development team has given considerations to the actual conditions of the raw material yard of iron & steel plants in China.While summarizing the experience in designing various types of raw material yards，opinions and suggestions have been solicitedfrom theresearch，engineering，and production organizations or institutes.This Code of the present version is the final result of full examination and approval of related authorities.

This code comprises 11 Chapters and 2 Appendices，covering General Rules，Definition of Terms，General Provisions，Receiving，Stock Yard，Sizing，Blending，Transportation，Sample Taking & Preparation，Windbreak，Frost-proof，De-freezing and Automation Control，etc.

The provisions printed in bold type are compulsory ones and must be enforced strictly.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Developmentis in charge of the governance of this code and the interpretation of the compulsory provisions；while CISDI Engineering Co.，Ltd.is responsible for the interpretation of the specific technical contents.All the concerned organizations，in the implementation process of this code，are kindly requested to build up experience and data in real sense and feed backthe opinions and suggestions，whenever necessary，to CISDI Engineering Co.，Ltd.（address:No.1，Shuanggang Road，Yuzhong District，Chongqing 400013，China）for reference in future revision.

1　General Provisions

1.0.1　The present Code is formulated with a view to implementing up-to-date，economic and suitable technologies and design in raw material yard of iron & steel plants，thusallowing improved energy efficiency，safety and environmental protection，as well as ensuring normal production.

1.0.2　The present Code is applicable to process design for construction，modernization or expansion of raw material yards in large-or medium-sized iron & steel plants.

1.0.3　The process design of the raw material yard in iron & steel plants shall be aimed to ensure normal production，realize high efficiency and low consumption in the process of raw material handling.

1.0.4　The Code specifies the basic technical requirements for process design of the raw material yard in iron & steel plants.Should any provision hereof be inconsistent with laws，decrees and regulations，the latter shall prevail.

1.0.5　The process design of the raw material yard in iron & steel plants shall also be in compliance with the requirements specified in the prevailing national standards，in addition to the Code.
