\"There\'s all kinds of people that need that kind of help, and I don\'t think anybody is better at providing it than GLIDE.\"

Warren-Buffett2.eps

基金会创始人Cecil Williams称赞说:“Thanks to his vision, our ongoing partnership with eBay, and the generosity of the winning bidders, we\'ve been able to provide unconditional support to our neediest neighbors and help people regain control of their lives.”

\"I want to break that cycle where a father is not at home—where a father is not helping to raise that son or daughter. I want to be a better father, a better husband, a better man.\"

\"School cancelled due to great weather! Wahooo!\"

school cancel1.eps

不过校长的理由也很充分:“to give students a chance to enjoy the weather and re-energize”。

\"And because my baby isn\'t too good at long working hours, if I get 15 minutes [of shots] I\'ve had a good day.\"

Emil Nyström.eps

\"There are two noble things in life: one to do charity; and other to look after your body.\"

Fauja-Singh.eps

\"The world has had a great experience of dealing with rapid population growth. World population doubled between 1960 and 2000, roughly. World food supply more than doubled over that time period.\"

【 I 】
A Bunch of Blarney
By Kat Wang

Hi readers! Call me Kat. I\'m a writer and reader enthusiast; a native Harbin-er; a current tech geek in the Silicon Valley; an unapologetic food-lover and sojourner. Above all, I\'m a romantic. If you\'ve read my other stories—Been There, Done That or my previous ELL column—I\'m sure you know what I\'m talking about. My goal in writing, especially writing for you, is to bring a bit of happiness. As Roger Ebert spelled out: \"We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try.\" So, keep calm, and read on!

Eloquence. What is it? Is it to speak beautifully? Where do you get it? Through years of training? Do you have it when you stop speaking a language, and the language starts speaking to you?
\"Fàilte,\" said the flight attendant, welcoming our sleep-deprived cabin to Dublin. The Boeing bumped to a stop on the runway. The attendant\'s voice softened to a whisper as I looked outside of my little window. I was in Ireland—the Emerald Isle.

I had about a week in Ireland to spend on a few meetings, attend a conference, and grab some Irish culture. But, my personal goal was to find the Blarney Stone—a slab of rock lored to bestow the kisser the gift of gab.

I spent a few days in the city center, ushered from one meeting to another. At every stop, I met several new and friendly faces—a taxi driver, a local politician, a hotel pianist. Despite their different backgrounds, one thing remained true of all of them and everyone else I encountered in Ireland—they made you feel at home.

They told you about life as they know it—with solid doses of frankness and dashes of wit. The taxi driver was a national dart champion for Ireland several years ago. The politician explained to me the term \"daylight robbery\", which apparently originated from the window tax levied by the British government. The pianist, in his prime, had made several trips to the US, performing in a scrappy folk band.

Complete strangers on the street met my eye and said hello. They looked at me quizzically as I looked around in surprise. Are you saying hello to me? Do I know you? It took some getting used to.
Had they all kissed the mystical Blarney Stone?
I needed to find out. So, I rented a car and drove on th
